2011 List: 6.Bamboo Hut

2.27.2011
One thing I love about having a list is if we're not sure what to do on a Friday night we just pick something from the list. It's great.

On Friday night, Jordan and I headed down to Bamboo Hut.

Jordan's food is on the right. He got the Surfer 1 with Ono Chicken. I got the Broke Hawaiian (Only 3.99!) with Teriyaki Chicken. I think Jordan's was a little bit better than mine. His chicken had more flavor.

We even liked the murals on the wall.  It was a great, cheap, little date. I would recommend it.

Colorado Trip (1) 2011

2.24.2011
Jordan and I rode home to Colorado last weekend with my wonderful Aunt and Grandma. We had fun spending time with my family while we were there. It was a great little escape from school and our normal schedules.

While we were there we got to see these two little ballers play in their last basketball game of the season (before playoffs). They rocked.

[While I did make it a goal to take more pictures (and I have been), sometimes I forget to take pictures with people in them, so sorry none of the other pictures have people in them.]

Jordan watched the BYU basketball game on Saturday while I took a 3 hour nap (not that I didn't want to watch the game, I was just exhausted), I haven't taken such a long, good nap like that in a long time. It was much needed. While we were there we also played lots of card games and ate really yummy food.

Our drive home started like this:

But at some points it looked like this:

We left earlier than usual this drive home and as a result we were able to go to one of my favorite places in the world!

Rosi's Little Bavarian Restaurant is in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. I love it! They have the best breakfast food and pastries....BUT it has kind of funny hours. I think it closes around 1 on most days so if we're heading back to Utah and don't leave my house before around 9am, we wont make it.

Here is why I love it:

They are divine.

Seriously delicious. If you are ever driving from Colorado to Utah or vice versa, or you just so happen to be planning a trip to Glenwood Springs I would highly recommend stopping by Rosi's Little Bavarian Restaurant either for breakfast or a life changing Almond Crescent.

Landan's mission call

Jordan's brother Landan opened his mission call yesterday.

He is going to the Honduras Tegucigalpa Mission, which is the same mission that his dad served in! Pretty neat if you ask me.

He reports to the MTC on June 8th.

Afterward we went to The Malt Shop. Yum. I forgot to take a picture of my shake but I did take a picture of the jukebox, so that will have to suffice. The Sorensen's are serious ice cream eaters. Jordan was done with his shake before I had even eaten 1/8th of mine, and this is how it is every time we have ice cream.

Just had to throw in a picture of my cute hubby. I sure do love him!

Liar, liar, pants on fire

2.22.2011
Today at school my pants caught on fire.

We were learning how to MIG weld. The TA was showing me how to do something so I was just standing to the side while he was welding at my station. My leg started feeling slightly hot, then pretty hot, and that's when I looked down and notice that my pants were on fire! Flames. Right there on my pants. I said, "My pants are on fire!" and the TA started grabbing the fire (good thing he had gloves on) and finally it went out. A spark must have flown off the table and onto the bottom of my pants.

I'm glad it didn't burn my leg. Or more importantly my shoe.

2011 List: 47. Jazz Game

2.17.2011
Last night we checked the first thing off our 2011 list. Woo! After school, we headed to Salt Lake. Little did we know that we would have to brave huge gusts of wind and snowy weather on our way but thankfully we made it safely. The Jazz were playing the Golden State Warriors.

View from our nose bleed seats...ha Sadly the Jazz lost 100-107. We thought it was funny that we have been to Energy Solutions 4 times together and have paid a total of $17.75 for all of our tickets (all of that was for last nights game) AND we have sat in great seats, almost front row (rows 2 and 4, I think), twice! But those were for BYU games. Still very fun though.

The view we saw as we walked out of the game - oops left the flash on, ended up with a pretty cool snowy picture though.

We had a great time. This weekend we're heading to Colorado. Cannot wait for a little break.

Valentine's Day

2.15.2011
This is the blog post where almost all of my pictures were taken on my dining room table. Totally unplanned. Married Valentine's Day is much better than single Valentine's Day, I must say. Jordan bought me beautiful flowers from the Flower Basket. This is the same place where he bought the flowers he gave me when he proposed. This picture doesn't really show the pretty lilies, but they are there, hiding out in the back. I liked the purples and pinks too though so this picture is great anyway. Jordan also gave me some red Toms. I've been wanting these for a while, so he did a great job on this one as well. It was exactly what I hoped he would give me. That night Jordan and I each made a heart shaped pizza. It was sure delicious!

I bought Jordan Jazz tickets. We're going to the game tonight! What a great Valentine's Day!

African Restaurant

I don't know know if I have ever mentioned this before or not but Jordan served his mission in Uganda, on the east side of Africa.

The other night Jordan and I went here...

...to get some Ethiopian food. It is called injera. He used to eat this on his mission. At first I was a little bit skeptical, I'm not very adventurous when it comes to food. But I actually thought it was pretty good! It is a flatbread/crepe sort of thing. You rip off little pieces and grab something off the plate pictured at the bottom. No silverware.

This is what you rip...

This is what you dip...or scoop, or grab...I kept asking what everything was and they just kept saying, I don't know just have some...

What do you think? I thought it was pretty tasty. Next time you have the chance to eat some injera, do it! You might even like it.

Love

I will write about how Jordan and I celebrated our Valentine's Day later but for now I thought I would share these pictures from PND Photo of the Day. I think they are great. I'm excited to grow old with Jordan.

Cake Batter Ice Cream and an almost free shirt

2.06.2011
Can someone please explain to me this receipt? It is from Down East Basics. The tag on the shirt was for $10.99 and it was supposed to be 30% off that. And to top it off I had a $5 off coupon. I'm not sure what was going on when she was ringing it up but what I do know is that all I had to pay was $0.63! Best shirt purchase ever! After our very successful trip to the mall, Jordan and I wanted to make a yummy treat. My favorite thing to get at Cold Stone is Cake Batter Ice Cream with mixed berries and graham cracker pie crust. We decided we would try to make it!

Here is the recipe we used:

Ingredients
1 cup milk
1/2 cup white sugar
2 egg yolks, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups heavy whipping cream
3/4 cup white cake mix, sifted

Directions
Whisk together milk, sugar, egg yolks, vanilla, cream, and cake mix in a saucepan until well blended. Cook over medium-low heat until mixture reaches 160 degrees F (70 degrees C), stirring frequently. Remove from heat and place in the refrigerator or freezer until liquid is cold.

Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze.

It was SOOO good. We loved it. Here is a not so good picture of how it looked. Please as you are looking at this picture try to imagine how it tasted rather than focusing on how this picture looks.

2011 LIST

2.05.2011

Last year while I was in Jerusalem I found this list.  I decided to take that list and make it my own.  I added some new things and took off a few things.  Checking things off the list became really fun for Jordan and I.  Last year we weren't able to check everything off the list, but we were definitely able to do some really fun things.  It was also great for those times where we couldn't decide what to do.  We would just say, "Let's do something from our list!"

Snowshoeing

Jordan and I went snowshoeing up Big Cottonwood Canyon on New Years Day with my Uncle Jim. We took Jordan's brothers Austan and Landan too. We had a fun time! It was an absolutely gorgeous day and even though it was like 9 degrees outside we couldn't even feel it when we kept ourselves moving. I am one to get cold very easily but I didn't get cold. We enjoyed the beautiful mountains and fresh powder.
