BEGIN January 2012 | Corina's Corner

1.  Lets be honest.  I never really get ready on Tuesdays.  I'm only on campus from 7:30-10:30, work and then only 1 class.  Then we head home to have some lunch and get ready to go skiing.

2.  Tuesdays are also the day that Jordan has class in Salt Lake.  I feel like Tuesday nights are SO long.  Never ending.  Why are Tuesday nights so long, when Jordan isn't home, and then every other night, when he is home, time goes so fast?  We come home, have dinner and then I feel like it is ready for bed....

3.  Yesterday I went on a field trip in my Graphic Design class.  We went to the Crandall Historical Printing Museum on Center St.  I loved it.  It was so fascinating.  I have never really learned about Gutenberg before so everything was interesting to me, from how he invented a new metal alloy or invented a new was all interesting.  We also learned about Benjamin Franklin and his involvement in the printing industry and then ultimately we learned about the printing of the first 5,000 copies of the Book of Mormon.  It was so neat.  If you live in Provo or in Utah for that matter, I would highly recommend taking a trip to this museum.  You will leave not only more knowledgeable about printing but with a stronger testimony of the Book of Mormon.

4.  Have I mentioned that I will be taking 10 credits of Math classes next fall?  I'm already dreading it.

5.  Sometimes right before bed Jordan will have a bowl of cereal.  I think cereal tastes better right before bed.  It just really hits the spot.  Can anyone attest to this strange phenomenon?

6.  Jordan and I are still trying to figure out that we're going to be doing this summer.  It's so weird not knowing.  Since Jordan works on campus and will be graduating in April, he will also be losing his job in April. I hope that we will be able to figure out some more definite plans soon.

7.  I got a new calling on Sunday at church.  We're still teaching Sunday School, but I the bishop asked me to be the Ward Photographer.  Kind of a made up calling.  Basically it is just a project calling.  There is a board in his office with pictures of all of the primary kids and youth and it is so outdated, and he wants me to take new pictures and update his board.  Then I get to work on creating a pictorial ward directory.  For being a made up calling, I think it will be fun.

8.  My cousin Addie was in a car accident on Saturday night.  She was hit head on and her car doesn't have airbags.  Even though this sounds super dangerous, it actually ended up being a huge blessing.  Addie is 8 months pregnant and if the airbags would have deployed there could have been some serious trouble.  However both her and the baby are fine.  It was a miracle.  I still almost can't believe it.

9.  Does anyone have any cute ideas for Valentines day presents for their husbands/significant others?  I'm short on ideas this year....

10.  Tonight we had Crock-pot Chicken and Dumplings for dinner.  I used this recipe except I added carrots and celery.  I think it was pretty good.  I've been craving this for a while and now my craving has been satisfied.

Clicks - Hot Air Balloons

I was looking back through some of my pictures from the hot air balloon festival today, remembering how beautiful they all were, and what a fun time we had.  I was seriously in heaven, loving every second of it.  Whenever I see a hot air balloon in the sky I get so excited, so imagine how happy I was when the whole sky was filled with balloons and everywhere I turned I could see one.  I took so many pictures.  I love how colorful hot air balloons are.  They are just so happy, light, and uplifting...literally.

Since I didn't get a chance to take very many pictures this week, this will have to do for my Corina Clicks for this week.

P.S. Jordan and I went skiing Saturday night and the sky had the most beautiful colors of purple and pink as the sun was setting.  And with the mountains in the background and a few stars AND the moon, and the white snow, it was absolutely gorgeous.  I was so so sad that I didn't have any kind of camera to document it.  I forgot my phone (which has the worst camera ever, so it didn't really matter that I forgot that), Jordan's phone was dying (and therefore wouldn't let me take a picture), and I didn't even have my little point and shoot, therefore I had nothing to capture the moment with.  Dang it.  I'll be kicking myself for that one for a while.

Chinese New Year

Last night, in honor of the Chinese New Year [which was on Monday] we decided that we wanted to have a Chinese night.  We wanted to order Chinese food and watch a Chinese Movie.  Devin and Claire came over and we all ate more Chinese food than we could handle.  The food was delicious.  We tried to watch Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon [and thought it was so appropriate since it is the year of the dragon], but couldn't handle the subtitles while we were eating so we ended up just getting a redbox.  It was a great date night.  I definitely think more themed date nights will be happening in the future.

This was the perfect fortune cookie for the night, "You will always be surrounded by true friends."

Jazz Game

Matt got us FREE Jazz tickets on Wednesday! // Jordan intensely watching his team // All of us together // This is how we all felt after 2, TWO, overtimes, when sadly we lost...We all had a great time though.  Thanks Matt!

I don't know what's been going on here but I've just been making so many crafts these days.  I think it's because it's the beginning of the semester and I've been a little bit less busy than usual.

Sooooo.......I've been wanting to make one of these for a while.  [I got this idea from Young House Love] and I had a little bit of extra time last night so I tackled this project.  Ok that makes it sound kind of hard, it really was an easy and fun project.

Here is where I got my map.  I love that it says "Trip Planner" on it.  Perfect!  I just had an old frame on hand so I took the glass out and that it what I used.  One of my teachers was throwing away a cork board at the end of last semester so I snatched some and cut it to the size of my frame.  I put the cork board in the frame and fastened the back and then threw a pin on each corner to hold the map in place.  Then I added a pin for each of the states that Jordan and I have been to together.  I love how it turned out!

Since one of my lifetime goals is to go to all 50 states, this is perfect!

Clicks - Yesterdays Rain

It rained so much yesterday!  Starting at about 8 until about 3ish, when it turned into a full blown snow storm.

Yesterday was a good day.  It started with a roommate breakfast, which is always fun and was followed by relaxing, Firehouse Subs for lunch (a first for Jordan and I, definitely wont be our last), a bit of skiing, and ended with Water for Elephants with Devin and Claire.

Simple, relaxing, and enjoyable.

Crafts - Silver "S"

Since today was so rainy and snowy I thought I would get a little bit crafty.  I have been wanting an "S" like these below from Anthropologie for a really long time but just couldn't justify the $18, and since I had just found this tutorial I thought I would try it out, so I did!

It is now hanging on my collage wall and I love it!

Happy Friday!

Movie | Dinner | Games

We thoroughly enjoyed our day off on Monday.

We went and saw Sherlock Holmes [and loved it].

We had a great dinner.  Delicious bruschetta, homemade pasta, and for dessert, the best caramel apple bread pudding ever tasted on the earth made by Claire.

And after dinner we played Pictionary Bend-A-Clue, a new game we got for Christmas from Jordan's brother.

Could we have had a better day?  I don't think so.
