BEGIN Hawaii | Part 1 | Corina's Corner

Hawaii | Part 1

We got home from a lovely 8 days in Hawaii on Thursday. I'm not sure if I have ever enjoyed the sun and the beach more than I did on this trip. I loved every second of it! We spent all 8 days on Kauai, which gave us plenty of time to explore almost the whole island. We stayed on the north side of the island but were able to spend a few days on the south side, and lots of in between on the east, and then on our last day we made it over to the west side. Kauai was sooooo green! It is known as the Garden Island, and for a reason! The forests and trees were amazing, but my favorite parts were definitely the water and the beach.

One of the best surprises of the whole trip came in the form of a Convertible Mustang. When your rental car is supposed to be a Ford Focus or a Nissan Versa, and instead it is a convertible, it's just about the best thing in the world! Free upgrade? Yes please! I think one of  my new "happy places" is cruising with the top down in Kauai, sitting next to Jordan, in perfect 80 degree weather, jamming to Island Radio. It does not get better than that!

We rented snorkel gear for the week and had a blast swimming with turtles. We saw 2 turtles down south at Poipu Beach, and about 8 more at Anini Beach on the north side of the island. I think Anini was my favorite beach, we went there a lot.

While we were down south we stopped by Spouting Horn and the Glass Beach, both of which were really cool to see. Spouting Horn is an area of lava rocks that have been eroded by the waves, creating tunnels where water travels. With each wave comes a spout of water that can shoot up to 30 feet high.

This glass beach was really cool! I have never seen anything like it before. This area is really industrial, right below the Chevron plant. I wouldn't want to swim there but just seeing so many pieces of glass was really neat. Imagine glass instead of sand. It was unreal. Amber colored glass is the most common, but every once in a while you can find some green, blue, and even a few red.

There is going to be an overload of photos the next few days, but I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do! Hawaii is beautiful!

  1. i love the pictures! can't wait to see more.

  2. These pictures are beautiful! It looks like it was an awesome trip! Glass beach sounds awesome! I didn't know such a thing existed. It looks cool!

  3. Uh, yeah---totally can't wait to see the rest of these! How breathtaking!

  4. Your description of driving in 80 degree weather with the top down and listening to island music brings me back to our honeymoon. I want to go to the beach so bad! This looks like a blast :)
