Spring Training 2014

3.26.2014

My family usually goes to Arizona for Spring Training during my brothers' Spring Break. This year, however, they decided not to go. I was a little bit sad they weren't going, but that wasn't going to stop us. As I mentioned yesterday, we started our trip with a stop at the Grand Canyon. From the Grand Canyon it's only a 3-4 hour drive to the Phoenix area. We had originally talked about going to a game on Friday, but the GC was just too interesting. We didn't leave in time to hit a game, so we just headed straight to my Aunt's house. Friday night we ordered some Oregano's, built a fire, and hung out. The weather was perfect. My dad's (and aunt's) cousin, and her family were headed to Arizona this weekend, for Spring Training as well, and they got there late Friday night.

Saturday, we had tickets to the Rockies Mariners game at Salt River Fields. Reagan was great at the games. She wore her hat like a champion, and was always clapping and cheering (seriously, lots of the cutest claps you've ever seen).

Before the game we had lunch at Cheba Hut. It was delicious. Probably the best sandwich place I've ever been to. Ever.

^^Dinger, the Rockies Mascot^^

^^She isn't a huge fan of the glasses, but she likes the flip flops and hats, so I'll take it.^^

Reagan was really good the whole game. We had lawn tickets, so we were in the sun. Reagan happily played in her stroller (aka the only shade around) for a while, and then let me walk her around the stadium until she fell asleep. The Rockies won 4-3! But Reagan (and the rest of us) got soooo hot, that we left in the 8th inning, and the Rockies scored in the 9th, so we missed that one. Oh well.

When we got home we decided to let Reagan show off her swimming skills, and take a dip in the pool. Even though it was pretty cold, Reagan loved it. I, however, enjoyed the hot tub.

^^Always clapping :) ^^

^^These beautiful yellow flowers were all around the Angels Stadium, and they smelled wonderful!^^

The next day we had tickets to see the Angels and Indians. Landan is a huge Angels fan so he was in Heaven! We got there really early and watched them warm up, and staked out a good spot on the lawn.

Reagan didn't want to be in her stroller as much during this game, which was unfortunate for this mama trying to keep her baby in the shade. We ended up sunscreening her about every 40 minutes. And just let the record show that we went to Arizona and my fare-skinned baby didn't get any sort of sunburn!

^^Clapping away. Whenever she sees anyone clapping, she claps. It is completely darling. She was clapping a lot at the games.^^

The Angels won 5-2, and we got to see all of their starters for a good 5 innings, so that was exciting. But again we got hot and left in the 8th, right before the Angels got a home run :( Oh well.

That night, Pam made a delicious dinner, including my great-great-Grandma's famous Orange Rolls. We thought it was fitting seeing as there were 8 of her descendants together. After dinner, we had a great time playing a little basketball. The three little boys (Max, Trenton, and Isaac) challenged the girls (me, Emmie, Pam, and Sarah). After we kicked their butts, we played some Knock Out. Scott dominated, and won all 3 games.

After basketball, we had ice cream sundaes and played the bowl game, which is one of my favorites. It's like a homemade version of Taboo, but with people.

Overall, it was a great trip. We enjoyed baseball, time with family, and some wonderful sunshine!
