J&J Garden Center

5.15.2014
Jordan and I are trying our hand at gardening this year. We had a very small garden (I'm talking maybe 4 plants) a few years ago and we actually grew some things, so armed with confidence, we've decided to try it again. In our yard there is an area in the back corner, that must have been a garden in the past, so we're going to plant it there. We love the idea of square-foot gardening, so we're going to try that this year. We have about 170 square-feet in our garden, and now that we have past the last frost date, we want to plant! So Monday night we went to J&Js and bought our plants. (I would have loved to start everything from seed, but seeing as we moved in just about the week we would have needed to start all of the seeds that didn't happen)

This year we're going to plant basil, beans, carrots, cilantro, corn, cucumbers, garlic, onions, oregano, peas, peppers, potatoes, asparagus, broccoli, pumpkins, tomatoes, watermelon, tomatillo, and strawberries. I'm the most excited about the strawberries.

And lest you think that Reagan enjoyed her time at the Nursery, let me share this picture with you of how she acted while we were there (that is until I found a bag of goldfish in my purse).

  2. Start some raspberries! They take a few years to bear fruit, but they are super sturdy and hard to kill.
