Last night was Reagan's birthday party. I really wanted to have a backyard picnic party for her since her birthday is in the Summer (mine is in the dead of Winter and I've always been a little bit envious of the Summer birthdays). I'm so glad the weather cooperated, and that we were able to have a really fun party for our really fun girl.
We had super yummy food. We made lit'l smoky sliders, with J Dawg sauce on the side, Annett made her famous and DELICIOUS potato salad, Martha made some tasty fruit salad with fruit dip, we also had corn on the cob, with some Mormon Margarita to drink. And I can't forget the dessert! We had the yummiest trifle, also made by Martha.
I had been wanting to try my hand at tissue paper flowers for a while, and this was the perfect excuse. I hung them up in our apple tree, and along the fence.
I made Reagan a little smash cake, which we let her go to town on after we had all had some food. She was a little bit hesitant at first, but went all in, FACE FIRST, after a few minutes. It was hilarious. I think she was a big fan. Can't blame her though, cake is good!
She was a little bit fussy for the fist part of the party, and while she was eating the cake. She would fuss, eat a bite, fuss, eat another bite, fuss...etc. You get the picture.
^^Hey Grandpa! That's MY cake!^^
Right after we were took the above picture, she rubbed her eyes with her completely cakey hands, so we decided it was time to call it quits. Even after I took her out of her highchair, she was still trying to eat the cake off her hands.
A bath and some new clothes later, and she was ready for some more partying and some presents. She was completely spoiled. She got some really cute new outfits, and lots of new books. She LOVES books. She also got a wagon, a little baby pool, and a bike trailer.
Reagan had some fun little friends there to help her celebrate. Ruby came, who is so good at waving and saying hi, and we're definitely glad Nixon was there so he could help Jordan put together the wagon.
Reagan is so lucky to have some really great uncles (no aunts yet). I'm sure she will be well versed in tickle fights and teasing, and everything else silly uncles like to do.
Dylan flew out to visit us last Saturday, so he helped me a lot with Reagan this week, and in getting things ready for the party and then the rest of my family came on Wednesday night. I'm so glad they were able come to town to help us celebrate our little girl. I love when they come visit and I know Reagan does too. My mom REALLY helped me with this party. I couldn't have done it with out her. Thanks mom!
At the end of the party Reagan got to play in her new wagon. Annett gave me a wagon when I was a baby, so she said that it was her duty to buy one for Reagan too. She LOVES it! I think we've already broken it in. We're excited to get some good use out of it this summer.
Happy birthday baby girl! I love you!
