After a lifetime of taste-testing I am happy to report that my search for the World's Best Chocolate Chip Cookie has officially ended. I have found them! And because I like you, I thought I'd share the recipe with you. These cookies are chewy, crunchy, sweet, and can be whipped up and enjoyed in approximately 16 minutes. I bet that you have all of the ingredients on hand right now. Check out the recipe below.
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 c. flour
1/4 c. oatmeal
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional, but oh so yummy!)
Cream shortening, sugars, egg, and vanilla. Add dry ingredients. Blend well. Add chocolate chips (I like to use some semi-sweet and some milk chocolate, and I also like to mix regular with mini) and nuts. Drop on ungreased cookie sheet by the teaspoon.
Bake at 375° for 10-12 minutes (Every oven is different. I like to check mine at 9 minutes. I take them out when they look like they are almost done, not quite all the way, and definitely before they start turning brown.)
Recipe yields about 3 dozen cookies. We usually double it because they get eaten so quickly.
And there you have it! Run to the kitchen, pour yourself a glass of milk and in 16 minutes you will be enjoying the World's Best Chocolate Chip Cookie. I guarantee you'll love them!
