5 Ways to Boost Your Energy in the Mornings #shop #cbias

I recently saw this article floating around on Facebook. The title alone drew me in. I needed to know what these successful people were doing in the mornings, because there are few things in life I love more than sleeping in. I love staying in my warm, cozy bed until my body has had it's fair share of sleep. I also love having a slow, relaxing morning, lounging while I eat my breakfast and catch up on reading.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), I love my children more than sleep and they like to wake up before the sun. And because children are unpredictable at best my mornings occasionally feel frazzled, and frazzled mornings usually result in frazzled days. I have found a few things however, that can knock me back on course, boost my energy, and help me start the day strong. Check out my tips below:

5 Ways to Boost Your Energy in the Mornings #shop #cbias

1. Go to bed earlier. I know, this is the worst. I want to stay up late and get everything done, or get nothing done at all (ahem...Netflix). Either way, I just want to stay up late! But come morning, I will regret it. As old as this makes me sound, I have been trying to be in bed by 9:30 every night and it has made all the difference.

2. Wake up early for a bit of ME time. I'm not talking about waking up hours early, just a few minutes to gather yourself and do that one thing, that you really want to do. Waking up on my terms can make all the difference. This is especially important if you're a parent. I LOVE those days when I can wake up before my kids and just have a few minutes to myself before I spend my whole day focused on them.

3. Make your bed. I saw this video a while ago and ever since I've been hooked (just go watch it... it's only 1 minute 37 seconds long). It's a simple task that can jump start my day and encourage me to accomplish more. Of course, there are days where I don't get around to making my bed, but I do know that making it will help me feel less frazzled and also boost my energy and desire to do the little things right, which will encourage me to do the big things right. Plus, every time I go in my bedroom I'm reminded that I've already checked something off my to-do list.

4. Nourish your soul. For me it usually looks like this, however, it could also look like morning meditation or some form of spiritual enlightenment. Taking a few minutes to illuminate my mind each morning helps me to stay strong, secure, and grounded. And if you're not into this sort of thing, check this out and you might change your mind.

5. Eat a nutritious breakfast. A well balanced breakfast sets me on course for the day I want to have, not the day that wants to have me. Whether its scrambled eggs and bacon or yogurt, fruit, and belVita Breakfast Biscuits, I make sure to fuel my body with delicious and nutritious food.

belVita Breakfast Biscuits can be found at Target in the Breakfast isle.  (Target now offers the value-size box!) I love the Golden Oat and the belVita Bites Mixed Berry. They are especially good because they release energy regularly and continuously throughout the morning. When your morning is feeling a little hectic, remember to try and make your bed, nourish your soul, and eat a good breakfast. It will make all the difference!

What does your morning routine look like? How do you boost your energy in the mornings? I'd love to hear your tips!

  1. Mailo morning routine:
Up at 6:45am, make/put together two breakfasts and lunches before my husband gets done with his shower at 7am. Shower for 5-7min, do my hair/makeup (if I’m feeling ambitious)/and dress professionally before we leave at 7:20am. We pray and read scriptures on the drive down to the train which I catch at 7:45am. While on the train I do my personal scripture study and clock into work by 8:12am. Not my fastest routine, but for two people I feel we are pretty efficient :D

I love your list. I’m going to try and start squeezing in making the bed before I leave the house.

  2. Love these ideas. I checked out the one video, and now I want to make my bed every morning!

I also took a look at the meditation article. I downloaded the app they mentioned at the end. I do yoga but have never been able to get into meditation. I'm hoping the app will help; I think I can do 10 minutes at a time.

I think I would enjoy the golden oat belVita breakfast biscuits. I'm headed to Target after the snow clears here and I'm going to pick them up.
