This post has been a long time coming. How old is my baby? Oops, she's definitely the second child. We just spruced up Naomi's nursery and I'd love to share some pictures as well as a few tips on how I  keep her nursery organized.

Naomi's room was the last one that needed the flooring replaced. Her room is also the smallest and because of this we were able to rip out the carpet/padding/tack strips/molding and replace it with the laminated hardwood all in one day. It was amazing (and I'm so glad that we're done with flooring now!).

It's always fun to put a room together especially when it comes together so perfectly. Obviously many elements in this room were also used in Reagan's nursery (same crib, dresser, rocking chair, etc.) so I wanted to figure out a way to keep all of the same furniture but have a room that was uniquely Naomi's and I think I achieved that.

I have so many favorite parts, but most of them are in the picture below. I love her new rug which I found for a steal. I love her Paper Bag Princess print on the wall, the flag bunting is special because it was decoration used at Reagan's baby shower, and I love her little N collage. And of course I'm still head over heals for the rocking chair, which was a bit of a labor of love.

^^Since Naomi's nickname is Nomes, I had to get this hot pink gnome when I saw it at Target.

Ok now that you've had a nice little tour I would love to share a few nursery organization tips that work for us. I'm not any more knowledgeable about nursery organization than the next mom but these few things work really well for us. Keep reading for my tips...

Nursery Organization Tip #1: Diaper changing station/basket. We don't have a changing table but rather a dresser that just so happens to be the perfect height. We keep a basket next to the changing pad with all of the things we could need: diapers, wipes, diaper rash cream, lotion for after the bath, hand sanitizer, and of course a few little toys or things to hand Naomi for distraction during a diaper change. I love having everything we need all contained in a basket. And then of course on the side of the dresser we have a Playtex® Diaper Genie® Complete. I swear by these things. No nursery should be without one. We have used a Diaper Genie since day one with Reagan and I can't stress enough the importance of having a Diaper Genie to curb the unpleasant smells that accompany a baby. The Diaper Genie Complete is Diaper Genie’s easiest system yet. It has a foot pedal for one-handed diaper toss, and changing the bag has never been easier with the new front tilt bin. Seriously, this is me raving about the Diaper Genie.

Nursery Organization Tip #2: Divided Drawers. I love having little bins/dividers in her dresser. Little baby clothes come unfolded so easily, so i like to have a bin for bottoms, one for tops, one for jammies, etc. Everything is contained in it's little bin. Nursery Organization Tip #3: Fabric Cubbie Bins. A place for everything and everything in it's place, right? I love having a little cubbie organizer for books and toys.

Nursery Organization Tip #4: Closet bin for "next size" clothes. Babies grow so fast and are always changing sizes. It can be difficult to stay on top of the clothing rotation. Since Naomi is the second child she gets lots of hand me downs. I love having a bin in her closet for the clothes she is just about to fit into. I keep a bin like this in Reagan's closet too and if she gets clothes as a gift or something that doesn't quite fit yet I'll throw it in this bin for a little while. I check it often to see if there is anything we can move to her drawers that will now fit.

Target is the one-stop shop for baby and the #1 place for baby registries. Most of our nursery essentials can be found at Target including our Diaper Genie. Also, there's a cartwheel offer for Diaper Genie running from 8/21-9/3. Click here for more information.

How do you keep your nursery organized? What is your favorite nursery necessity and where do you buy it?

4 Tips and Tricks for Nursery Organization

  1. Your nursery is just so darling! I love all of your organization ideas. Man it really is hard to keep all of those baby clothes organized! Don't you just love the Diaper Genie?! I can't believe how many diapers it holds without the smell! {client}

  2. So so cute! That paper bag princess print is to die for, love how big it is!

  3. THAT RUG!! I'd pay full-price for a rug that size!

    I also do the divided drawers, and the bin with next-size clothes. It's so helpful to have things sectioned off, and to have "new" clothes close at hand.
