Best of 2016

12.29.2016
I hope you are all having a wonderful winter break and that your Christmas was magical. Jordan had to work two days this week but we have still been having lots of fun and still have some exciting things planned in the upcoming week and for New Years.

I'm excited to share my Year in Review post today. I love putting these together and looking back at our year. There's something so satisfying about seeing my whole year all on one page. It really helps me remember that life is going SO fast even if the days occasionally drag on. Plus, it also helps me remember all of the fun things we were fortunate to do and all of the fun we were able to have. So without further ado...

We kicked off the year with a quick weekend trip to Arizona. I finally made it out to see the Ice Castles and we went to our first Monster Jam. Naomi turned 8 months old and I wrote a blog post about how to boost your energy in the mornings.

In February Jordan and I had a little Valentines Day night away which included a stop at RubySnap. My dad had an awesome Super Bowl party and the Broncos won! We bought FIRST CLASS tickets to Europe for later in the Summer. I spent lots of time planning New Beginnings for the Young Women in my ward. Naomi was cute and turned 9 months old.

In March it finally got warm enough for some backyard swinging, we went to Frozen On Ice, made another quick trip to Arizona for some Spring Training baseball games, and we couldn't stay away from RubySnap. I wrote a blog post about the things you need to know when road tripping with kids and another one about laundry room organization after we built some new shelves in our laundry room. We also went to the Provo City Center Temple open house and had a sad few days with hand, foot, and mouth. And of course I can't forget about Easter!

In April we went to see the Cherry Blossoms at the State Capitol, twice. We also went to the Tulip Festival and Landan and Stephanie got married!

May was awesome!! Our little baby turned one (and I posted her monthly photo progression), I wrote a blog post about potty training Reagan, I hosted a fun Laurel Graduation Dinner and then Jordan and I spent the last two weeks of May in Europe (London, Paris, Cinque Terre, Pisa, Rome, and Amsterdam)!

June was pretty great as well. Reagan turned 3, Naomi developed quite the 'tude, we made LOTS of homemade ice cream for Father's Day and I wrote blog posts (and posted a movie) about our big trip including tips on how to plan a two week trip to Europe. The saddest part of the month was that Reagan broke her arm ;(

We were knee deep in summertime fun by July. We celebrated the 4th of July with lots of family fun, watched the Hill Air Force Base airshow from our house and visited the Hill Air Force Museum. We went camping at Antelope Island and I had a really fun roommate reunion at Bear Lake. I shared blog posts about what to pack for a trip to Europe and a fun smoothie recipe. We also completely redid our bedroom (new floors, paint, trim, closet, the works!) in all of our spare time. Reagan got her cast off! And we took a trip to Seattle (more pictures here), Harrison Hot Springs, and Vancouver, all to see ADELE!

In August we took our annual pilgrimage to Alturas Lake for Jordan's family reunion. We spruced up the bathroom and Naomi's nursery, my cousin got married, we celebrated 6 years of marriage and I wrote a blog post about how to get a good picture (on your DSLR) from a stranger.

Naomi finally started walking in September (at 16 months) and Reagan started preschool. We spent Labor Day in Nebraska with a trip to the Fort Collins Temple open house, and Jordan turned 30! We went to the BYU vs. UCLA football game on his birthday and in September we also went to the circus.

October brought with it lots of running, as I was training for a half marathon. I made some General Conference cookies and we celebrated Halloween. Reagan was Elsa and Naomi was a Garden Gnome. We also took a trip to Black Island Farms and got some pumpkins.

We had maybe the craziest week of the year in November. I had Young Women's In Excellence on Wednesday, Disney On Ice on Thursday,  a birthday celebration for Dylan and Logan on Friday, Dylan and I ran a half marathon Saturday morningJordan and Reagan went to a BYU football game Saturday afternoon and then Jordan and I took a Red Eye flight to NYC with my family Saturday night followed by two fast and fun filled days in the city. In November I also posted a Times Square Photo Re-creation, of course we had Thanksgiving, and I wrote about the Gilmore Girls Revival.

December was great. We did LOTS of Christmas activities: putting up our Christmas tree, decorating gingerbread houses, visiting the Ogden Christmas Village, the Draper Tree of Life, and mailing out Christmas cards. I turned 27! And then of course we had Christmas itself. We also went bowling for FHE and I recapped our 160 day exercise challenge.

Whew! What a year! Thanks for reading along! (Past Year in Review posts: 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, and 2008)

  1. yay! I love these! That's amazing to see short sleeves in march...make me feel like I can possibly endure this freeze for a couple more months.
