BEGIN Valentines Day | Corina's Corner

Valentines Day

We had a wonderful Valentine's Day this year. Jordan was in charge of our date and he knocked it out of the park. Valentine's Day was on Wednesday this year and since Jordan has Young Men's we decided to go out on Tuesday night. We dropped the girls off at my parents' house and then headed down to Provo. First we stopped at Austan's apartment because Jordan had him pick up one of my favorite treats from the Wilk, a giant rice krispe treat. Then we went to a Hot Pot place for dinner. Neither of us had ever been to a place like that and it was really fun! After dinner we headed to the Provo library to see an exhibit called Wizards of Pop, which was all about how Robert Sabuda & Matthew Reinhart make their amazing pop-up books. It was a fabulous exhibit and right up my alley. It was so cool to see how those beautiful books are made. After the exhibit we went across the street to The Mighty Baker and bought another treat. Then to top off our treats we finished the night at Rockwell Ice Cream.

After reading this post, I decided I wanted to start a little Valentine's Day tradition, but I wanted it to be SUPER simple. Life has been crazy lately, so I didn't want to add to the madness, but still find a way to make it special. I bought a red table cloth, we used all red/pink plates, cups, silverware. I set the table the night before. Jordan and the girls each had a present bag at their spots. The girls each got a book and Jordan got some shoes he had been wanting for a while. We had Eggo waffles with spray whipped cream and red sprinkles. The girls loved it and it was so simple. I think they felt loved. Reagan's book was a 5 minutes Princess bedtime storybook and she was so happy because we had just finished her 5 minutes fairy tale bedtime story book. Over and over she kept saying, "I love my book mom! Thank you!" It was very gratifying.
